Work Experience a great success

Year 10 Work Experience comes to a close for 2013

Our Year 10s have done themselves and their families and school proud. The 2 week Work Experience program for WSC Year 10s has been a great success.

Some feedback

Hume Valley School have nothing but praise for Susan L. She settled in quickly and worked really well with the children. The staff said if they could, they would have Susan longer. She worked better than "some of the student aides they have had from University....."

Dr Robyne-Maree Coy at the Kilmore Wildlife Animal Shelter spoke highly of Chelsea U. and Maddie O. She said both students were fantastic, mature and good workers. They learned new hands-on skills with the animals and did some minor veterinarian work, with some lab work to follow.

Dean C. enjoyed his time at Valley Produce - it has helped him consider whether the type of work undertaken is what he may do in the future.

Tiahna C. really enjoyed the experience at Dudley St Childcare in Wallan. She wanted to gain work experience in this field as it links really well with her VET studies at WSC. She worked with every age group, liked the working hours of 9- 3pm -  and caught the occasional cold from the kids...

Jack N. and Shaun N. worked with frames and weatherboards; their supervisors said they worked "flat out" and learned from each other.

The Kilmore Leisure Centre hosted Adam K. who enjoyed the work. He shadowed the Life Guards, particpated in swimming activities, provided feedback to the instructors and saw the links between the experience and the Year 10 WSC course "Go For Your Life" in terms of fitness and improvement.

There will be many more success stories to come...these are just a few.

We are very proud of all our Year 10s who took on the challenge of Work Experience and made it work for them and we are extremely grateful to our Work Experience providers. Thank You!
