Work Experience Ford

on Friday, 23 June 2017.

Riley Cook- Ford. Wow what an amazing place, staff and response. The staff thoroughly enjoy having Riley around in the workshop and have said he is the most mature work experience student they have ever had. Riley is covered in grease and is definitely getting his hands dirty. Riley is assisting with brake fluid changes, oil filter changes, changing over parts on the cars and is so enthusiastic about being there. Riley talked about becoming a Diesel Mechanic in the future.

Caitlin Smith- Amcal Chemist. Caitlin has shared her amazing personality with the staff and is seen as extremely positive and someone who is more than willing to help out with everything. Today she will be recreating the front window display. Caitlin is enjoying her experience, especially when she gets to serve the customers.

Zara Gailey is learning a great deal at Vento Café. She is learning how frantic work in the hospitality industry can be.

Ruby Sommerville is doing work experience with Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes. She has been attending parliament this week with Jaclyn and had her photo taken with Premier Dan Andrews. A career in politics may be on the cards.

Jacob Langborne is detailing new homes with Waydon Builders (Hotondo Homes). He is being supervised by former Wallan SC student Jayden Wright.

Work Experience Totally Fit Gym

Zach Johns and Brayden Lovelace are getting fit while they work at Totally Fit Gym. They are learning all the things which need to be done behind the scenes and also getting involved in classes and early morning boot camps.

Work Experience Reds Cafe

Owner of Reds Café Wallan is pleased with Kiera O'Dell's attitude and punctuality. Kiera is learning the art of table service and food preparation.

Taster Day

on Thursday, 22 June 2017.

Today, 540 students from years 4, 5 and 6 from the local feeder schools joined us at WSC.
They had a great time experiencing life at high school including participating in classes such as Science, Product Design, Indonesian, Information Technology, Art and Food Technology.

The students enjoyed a bbq lunch and finished the day with an exclusive pre-view of the College Production 'The Play That Goes Horribly Wrong'.

Attention Parents - 22nd June 2017

A reminder that Thursday 22nd June 2017 is our Taster Day for our upcoming 2018 Year 7's.
Due to the number of students who will be attending WSC, normal classes will not run and we will be offering an alternate program for our current Year 7, 8 and 9's on that day.

Work Experience Leading Edge Computers

Kane Marlow- Leading Edge Computers. The guys love having Kane working there. Kane has pulled apart a couple of hard drives, loaded Windows 10 programs, vacuumed and he is asking questions daily. Kane is enjoying his experience and is torn between Sport and Rec and Computers as a future career pathway.

Work Experience T & L Air Conditioning

Lachlan Mozina is lucky to be enjoying the warmer weather in Queensland as part of his work experience. He is working within the family business, T & L Air Conditioning.
Lachie has had a wide variety of experiences to date from completing repairs at a Retirement Home, working on installations to visiting residential homes for job quotes.
He is throughly enjoying his time and is now looking at perhaps taking on a trade as a Refrigeration Mechanic or Electrician.

Rynki and the team at Simon Yu Pharmacy Wallan are very impressed with Michaela Heyns and cannot say enough good things about her. She is enthusiastic, positive, she does everything they ask and doesn't complain. Michaela is loving her work experience and even enjoys the cleaning.

Wallan SC's great supporter, Pretty Sally Home Hardware, is hosting work experience students. Lachlan Muller, Cam Muller and Andrew Howard are being run off their feet cleaning, shelf stacking and providing general assistance in and out of the store. They are learning how important punctuality and reliability are.

Meningococcal W Consent Cards

All Year 10, 11 and 12 students are required to return their Meningococcal W Consent Cards. Immunisations will commence early in Term 3.

Insights into Medical Research Day

To celebrate Medical Research Week, the Gene Technology Access Centre (GTAC) and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research presented a program for senior students with a demonstrated interest in science. Scott Yang, Kyle Anglog, Bailey Greenwood, Leianna Faulkner, Molly Piastri-Wells, Lachlan Mozina, Ruby Sommerville, Cameron Wilkie and Natasha Reddy fulfilled the role of medical researchers as they carried out a series of laboratory activities exploring the techniques and technologies used to investigate infectious disease. The students participated in identifying the genes that make Toxoplasma gondii infectious!

It's Crazy Hat Day

A huge thank you to our fantastic staff for getting behind our Crazy Hat Day. Not only did they decorate their hats with the theme of 'About Me' but they donated for the privilage.
Monies donated will go towards the VCAL Projects and also The Cancer Council.
