on Wednesday, 26 April 2017.

Yesterday, a number of our Student Leaders were involved in the ANZAC Wallan March and Service held at the Cenotaph.

2017 College Anzac Service

on Monday, 24 April 2017.

Today, WSC held an ANZAC Commemoration Service at the College.

All students of the College attended the service, which was held on the lawn at the entrance to the College.

We were very fortunate to have Soldiers from the Army School of Transport based at Puckapunyal Army Base, led by Commanding Officer LTCOL Mr P.R. Rogers join us for the occasion.

LTCOL Mr Rogers, gave the Soldiers Prayer whilst the Soldiers formed part of the service as the Catafalque Party. This party consists of four members of an armed guard who stand, their heads bowed and their arms (weapon) reversed, facing outward approximately one metre from the coffin or catafalque as a symbolic form of respect for those who have fallen.
The arms of the Soldiers represent the wings of an angel. The service personnel lower their eyes but do not close their eyes in a sign of respect for the fallen.

Mr Craig Triffett, College Council President and an Ex-Serviceman read 'The Ode' from the poem 'For the Fallen' by Laurence Binyon.

Our College Captains read the ANZAC Requiem beautifully and the behaviour of our students was exemplary, with respect shown by all.

The Staff and Students of WSC would like to take this opportunity to again thank the Service Personal who attended today for their time and service to our country.

Year 7 Drama

on Thursday, 20 April 2017.

At the end of last term, 7A, 7C and 7E completed their Drama performance task. This involved students writing their own scripts (by changing a fairy tale and making it their own!) blocking, costuming and rehearsing it for Year 7 Drama.

The students have worked tirelessly over several weeks to ensure their pieces come together. We saw performances with The 3 Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Shrek, Beauty and The Beast, Cinderella, James and the Giant Peach and more! All of these students deserve a big round of applause for getting up and having a go!

Year 7's Poppies

on Monday, 24 April 2017.

During their Pastoral Care sessions last week, our Year 7's learnt of the importance and significance of Anzac Day.
To commemorate the day, they then placed messages and tributes of what Anzac Day means to them and the sacrifices made by those who served.
These poppies were then placed around the lawn for our service today.
The Year 7's did a wonderful job and their words were quite beautiful. Copies of the poppies will be forwarded to the Soldiers at Puckapunyal for reading.

Real World Application

on Friday, 21 April 2017.

A delightful surprise was delivered to the office the morning by Mitchell Anderson, Mitchell Ioannides and Blake Jones. As a part of their Numeracy program (Real World Application) the boys, along with Brayden Hocking, had to choose a project that related back to the 'real world'. The student's chose to create a morning tea for the ladies in the office. Their project required Mitchell, Blake, Brayden and Mitchell to do a budget, compare pricing, shop for ingredients, weigh and measure and follow the instructions of their chosen recipes. All students worked professionally with the guidance of their Numeracy Teacher Deb Hubbard and ES member Sheridan Dylan to produce wonderful treats for the lucky Office staff. Thank you everyone our treats were delicious!

THE 2017 ATTITUDES TO SCHOOLS SURVEY

on Tuesday, 18 April 2017.

We want our student to tell us what they think
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training. The survey assists schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school.
Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience.
This year the Attitudes to School survey will be conducted at our school between Monday 22 May to Friday 23 June. The survey only takes 20-30 minutes to complete and occurs during your child's class time.
Students from Year 7 to 12 at our school will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool.
The survey results will be reported back to the school in Term 3.
The Department has updated the survey for 2017 to include important new measures that are known to influence student engagement and performance.

Students privacy is our priority
Your child will be provided with a unique login to complete the survey. The student login is an assigned identifier that may be used by the Department to combine data for research purposes only. Your child's privacy and the confidentiality of your child's survey responses will be protected at all times. No identifiable personal data is included in the survey response file.
This survey is not a test and your child has the right to refuse or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during, or after completion.
